Kitchen Diner

The front door opens into a spacious, bright and modern kitchen-diner. We have an extendable oak table that easily seats 6, allowing guests to sit in comfort and enjoy an evening meal.  The colour-coordinated radiator is thermostatically and timer controlled, but like all the others in the house can be boosted when needed to your own preference.

The kitchen area is fitted with electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, slow cooker, toaster and coffee-maker. To make your self-catering holiday experience comfortable and relaxed, it is amply equipped for up to 6, with enough utensils, crockery etc to allow for making full use of the dishwasher! Plastic plates and cups are provided for use in the garden.

The adjoining Utility room houses a large-capacity washing machine, a tumble dryer and freezer, together with additional cooking and baking implements, recipe books and a fine bone china dinner service for that special meal.

Sitting Room

The sitting room, with windows looking out over the garden and seaside, seats six and is comfortably furnished with 2 leather sofas and a single swivel-recliner armchair. There are a number of footstools so you can relax in style.  As usual there is a thermostatically and timer controlled radiator, but you have the option of using the wood-burning stove to keep you cosy.

The log burner will be made up prior to your arrival. There will be ample wood available in the garden woodsheds throughout your stay; we encourage you to use this as it is both a fabulous way of heating the sitting room and is much more eco-friendly than constantly relying on the electric heating, despite some recent newspaper reports suggesting otherwise, as it is locally sourced and well dried.

There is a 32″ Smart TV, tuned to Freesat, with BluRay/multi-region DVD player and sound bar. We have attached a spare HDMI extender and cable so you can run your laptop through the big screen, without having to unplug anything. There is also an iPod dock with auxiliary cables.

Downstairs Bedroom & Bathroom

Opposite the bathroom, a single step up takes you into the ground floor double bedroom, which has a cosy seating/study area. With a new  kingsize divan bed, dual aspect views through the window at one end and French windows at the other, this is a bright, airy and comfortable room for adult or teenager.

There is a booster point for the WiFi in here, a docking station and another thermostatically/timer-controlled radiator to keep off the chill. A small armchair adds to the feeling of superior 4 star comfort. There is an oak chest of drawers, and hanging space behind the door in this room.

Bed linen and towels are provided for all bedrooms.

From the utility, which leads directly off the kitchen, you can enter the main bathroom.

Beautifully decorated with reclaimed wood and upcycled yacht fittings, this is fitted with a large P-shaped bath with shower over – operated from the mains system, so it gives a really spectacular shower in the mornings or when you come in from a hard day’s walking on the Cuillins or kayaking off Ardnish. The towel rail/heater in here doubles as a full length mirror and can be used as a convector heater to quickly boost the temperature.

Upstairs Bedrooms & Bathroom

The master bedroom has a kingsize double bed, pine-painted furniture and a collection of books which you are welcome to borrow whilst staying. The room has 2 armchairs and provides a welcoming peaceful sanctuary should you need it.  There are stunning views from this room too!

The heater in this room is, as usual, both thermostatically and timer controlled, and there is additional bedding in the blanket box should you feel the cold at night. We supply a hairdryer in this room and there is hanging space behind the door.

Opposite the main bedroom you will find the 3rd bedroom- a delightful twin-bedded room over-looking the sea, with painted furniture, 2 armchairs, a window seat, TV/DVD player with Freesat, a docking station/DAB radio, more books to borrow and and large chest of games.  Again the heating is controlled both thermostatically and by timer.

Upstairs, there is a showerroom with an electric shower this has also been carefully re-furbished using reclaimed and up-cycled wood and other items, and is twinned with a toilet in Malawi!
This has to have the best view in the house – really 4 star – although it’s pretty good from the 2 upstairs bedrooms too!

Outside

There is a garden laid to front and side of the house – this is fully enclosed by a stock fence/wall and is suitable for setting up tents.

In the kitchen you will find unbreakable plates, cups and “glasses” for use in the garden. The garden overlooks the lower portion of our ground, which is a perfect launch site for boats of different types, should you bring your own with you.

You will find a shed outside the downstairs bedroom which is full of garden furniture and several outdoor games. All furniture can be left out overnight during your stay – so feel free to use any of it – it just needs putting back inside the shed at the end of your holiday.

There are two additional areas of garden available for your use – the bottom garden is right on the sea front and is gradually being developed with fire pit, base for barbecue, granite table, seating and reclaimed wooden benches. The local sheep are frequent visitors here and enjoy using the furniture as scratching posts!

The top garden is also a “Work in Progress”, but can provide a further sanctuary to make the most of any good weather. We try to keep the sheep out of here but they still somehow manage to make occasional forays over the wall.
